Galeno Research Unit

In 2002, the Pharmacology professor of the State University of Campinas and Institute of Biomedical Sciences - University of São Paulo, Gilberto De Nucci, founded the Research Unit GALENO, in Campinas, Brazil. This unit started with drug’s quantification, related to the analytical part of bioequivalence studies, geared to the registration of generic products in Brazil. 

This unit also performs drug quantification related to preclinical assays, as well as other pharmacokinetic studies. 

It was also created a clinical unit, to cope with the selection of healthy volunteers and subsequent clinical trial’s activities.

History

Prof. Gilberto De Nucci the head of GALENO, is responsible for the synthesis and development of the first medication with Brazilian patent, counting with the Inovation Technology grant from FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation). 

In the Institute for Scientific Information, from the 50 most referenced Brazilian medical papers by the international community, two of them are from Dr. De Nucci. His scientific history counts with more than 340 papers published in indexed papers (PubMed), 22 patents registered in the National Industrial Property Institute (INPI) and 8 patents registred in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WO).
